Today the department is a separate business unit, FFD, that consults for Freudenberg Group companies as well as external clients. A quarter of the more than 210 FFD Associates hold doctorate degrees.
Freudenberg expands industry applications of its leather business, producing a leather seal that becomes widely used in the new automotive industry. In 1932, Freudenberg's tradition of Innovation is established when it develops the Simmerring metal seal, a more robust, long-lasting solution for cars and other machinery.
