The Group establishes Freudenberg Oil & Gas as a separate business unit, focused on sealing solutions for the upstream energy industry. Headquartered in Houston, Freudenberg Oil & Gas debuted with locations in Canada, UK, Norway, Germany, Kazakhstan. Freudenberg acquires Offshore Seals in Singapore, establishing a strong presence in Asia.

Freudenberg acquires several companies that provide sealing solutions to the oil & gas industry: Imperial Rubber (Nisku, Canada), Petroleum Elastomers and Tetralene (Houston, Texas), TBS seals (Aberdeen, UK), Vestpak (Norway).

Expansion of seals applications into oil & gas industry. Expansion of product range into the field of medical technology.
2004
Expansion of mechanical seal business through acquisition of Burgmann Dichtungswerke. Freudenberg enters the medical technology field. Establishment of Freudenberg Chemical Specialities in Munich/Germany.

Decades of growth and global expansion lead to the original company Carl Freudenberg to reorganize into individual business groups that operate in their respective markets throughout the world. The parent company of the Group is Freudenberg & Co. in Weinheim.

Development, production of spunbonded nonwovens starts.
1966
Freudenberg continues in its growth and success in automotive and industry sealing solutions, acquires Klüber Lubrication in Germany.
1932
Freudenberg establishes formal department for research, development and optimization of materials, processes, and components. Today the department is a separate business unit, FFD, that consults for Freudenberg Group companies as well as external clients. A quarter of the more than 210 FFD Associates hold doctorate degrees.
1929
Freudenberg expands industry applications of its leather business, producing a leather seal that becomes widely used in the new automotive industry. In 1932, Freudenberg's tradition of Innovation is established when it develops the Simmerring metal seal, a more robust, long-lasting solution for cars and other machinery.
1874
Carl Johann Freudenberg becomes sole owner and the company is renamed Carl Freudenberg, becoming Freudenberg & Co. GmbH in 1921 as the business grows.
1849
Establishment of Heintze & Freudenberg in Weinheim, Germany, for the production and sale of high-grade calf leather.
