Freudenberg Oil & Gas Technologies (FO>) is pleased to announce our BlueSky dynamic ball joints are now API-6FA (5th ed.) Fire Test Rated and have been certified by Lloyd’s Register for both onshore and offshore use.
The newest certification and Type-Approval are part of our continued commitment to providing differentiated, certified solutions to address industry challenges. The successful results of the API-6FA fire test showed our BlueSky dynamic ball joints reached operational performance targets by experiencing zero leakage while being exposed to a 1400°F-1800°F flame.
The Type Approval of our dynamic ball joints by Lloyd’s Register covers use of our BlueSky ball joints for both onshore and offshore topside applications. As an additional option for these severe service applications, we now offer injectable packing integrated into the standard design to serve as a secondary seal. This solution provides customers with the option to add additional sealing capabilities and lubrication to the ball joint while in the field, reducing maintenance costs and improving the ball joint’s longevity.
The FlexBall dynamic ball joint is an effective solution providing piping systems with the required flexibility to compensate for thermal growth, vibration, or motion of equipment in the piping system. The FlexBall has the unique ability to provide up to 30° total flex capability and 360° rotational freedom in a bi-directional flow design. It is designed for use in thermal enhanced oil recovery systems such as SAGD, Cyclic steam, and steam flooding.
